Food 'no nos' for Ducks

Is there anything ducks are NOT suppose to eat? Forgive me if this has already been asked. I know raw potatoes, moldy foods, junk food for people and the things like that are not good. Other than duck food, corn, and ground up egg shells (for the girls), they only get vegetables, cat kibble, clover, tree leaves, grass, and bugs. What about tomatoes and uncooked corn and beans and more? Thank-You!!

Ducks. LOVE. Tomatoes! Beans, nope. Uncooked corn...not sure, actually. Spinach is controversial, best policy is not to give 'em any. There's a whole list of duck treats right here!

And keep in mind that it can also vary with the duck as far as what they will eat even if it's something okay to eat. Amy's experience is different from mine. My ducks won't touch tomatoes, but they will eat beans. Almost none of mine will eat corn even though we give it to them in the winter to generate warmth. Like Amy, I don't even offer spinach in any amount, and I don't recommend it even in small amounts.

Thanks! This whole discussion start when my mom and I saw that some animals were not suppose to eat tomatoes. That's after the tomato garden began thriving right by the ducks. They were actually hopping to try to eat the plants!!

My ducks go crazy for peas - i buy a bag of frozen peas and pour boiling water over them and about 2 minutes later the water is cold and they are ready to eat. They also go nuts for grapes. They love tomatoes, green beans, sweet corn, i give them a bit of cheese every now and then - about a quarter of a baby bel each which they also love. They are pretty greedy and scarf down most of the treats i give them like i havent fed them for weeks. But the main things for them are definitely peas and grapes
Forgot to add - i cut the grapes in half so its easier for them to eat

We give ours multigrain cheerios for a treat sometimes toss them in the water and its a duckie pool party game. Nibbling on tomato plants isn't going to be a big problem as as long as they aren't eating whole plants to the ground. Tomatoes are in the nightshade family so the leafy parts are mildly toxic but a nibble here and there is fine . Bread is not a good treat for them especially white processed bread. We give our ducks and chickens whole grain and oatmeal bread as a treat occasionally . most Ducks love tomatoes and will swallow cherry tomatoes whole which is really freaky to watch....you can see it going down their throats....

My girls love uncooked corn. They love it best when i slice it off the cob for them. But they will spend a long time working the fresh kernels off a cob.

Tomatoes cause a feeding frenzy. I have to make sure there is enough for everyone or we end up with ducks chasing each other for tomato bits.

I've never tried raw beans. Steamed beans they'll swallow whole almost like Lady & the Tramp slurping down spaghetti noodles.

I wouldn't try raw beans. Those are a definite no-no.

I steam everything except fruits/berries & leafy greens and shelled peas for my girls.

Steamed parsnips & potatoes are particularly favored.

My Anconas are fruit lovers. Cantaloupe especially. They loved fresh strawberries when they were in season. They liked pears at first but now are over them it seems. They love clover, we have a pig patch in the yard and I gather up leaves and flowers whenever we mow.
