Need help! WIld 20+ ducks keep getting in the coop daily

They will most likely be food if the neighbor follos through. I would sneak and relocate them but from everything I read that they will come back. Still may be worth a try.

Either way, they are going. We have a trapping quote. Talked to the neighbors to see if they handle the situation like they said they would. I will give them one week to figure this out.

Now my favorite hen was either picked on or has pox. I was planning to vaccinate her but now I can't :-( Her poor eye looks terrible. I keep spraying it with Vetericyn.

The vet told me that the mosquito can give it to the ducks, It may not effect them like it does chickens but if they drink from their water then the chickens can catch it. It may be a coincidence that the respiratory issues and now pox have began after the ducks all started coming into the yard.

Either way i'm not chancing it.

If anyone lives in sunny Florida and wants to come get some free food, let me know. They are all yours!

It looks more like an eye worm. An ailment that is quite common in wet environments.

Thank you. As of today her eye is opening. I did notice little marks on her legs though :-( I am going to continue to treat her and watch her. She is still active. Eating. Friendly.

100% agreed. She is not "playing with a full deck" so very hard to communicate with. It takes all control not to scream at her when she was trying to blame the neighbors and pointing out that we are at fault because of our chickens food and water supply over here. Also reminding us that chickens are not actually legal here...everyone on our street has them though. Always having to point fingers.

She herself told me when they hatched that she was protecting them because we NEED more ducks on the lake here.

I think she realized she made a mistake but is too proud to admit it. As of today i did not see quite as many so they may have started to take care of them? I still chased a bunch out of the yard throughout the day and have to block the tunnel to the run where the food is when the chickens are loose in the yard...but still not nearly as many (doing the happy dance).

Hopefully I didnt just jinx it! Fingers crossed!

They have all been in that house. She would leave then door open for them to go in and eat from the dog and cat dishes! Lol!

One day:

Neighbor: alright duckies, come on in!

*ducks walk inside*

Neighbor: now, it's time for you to become house pets and be my very best friends! If not, you get to be eaten! Yay!

She sounds like one of those people. When I was young, I had a teacher for ice skating, I think, who was just as crazy. Of course, she wasn't my teacher long...lol
