I have 15 chickens that are 4 months old, 2 obvious roosters and the rest hens.... I have had no doubts other than these tail feathers... Can hens have a tail feather like this? My 2 roosters are crowing with huge wattles and combs and tail feathers and are the same age as this "hen". It squats when I pet it, it's waddles and comb look female... It's just the darn tail feather... Any

It's a tail feather that is about to molt out. You have a pullet. They go through several juvenile molts throughout their first six months. I see that there are a bunch of feathers all over the place in those pictures. Your young flock isn't done growing in their adult feathers yet.

Oh good!! Yay! Thank you!!! We were actually just in the middle of the tassajara fire and had to collect and move our chickens to a shelter so they may have lost some extra feathers through the stress of the fire and the move poor things..
Thank you for your help!!

Yep, pullet. sometimes they get those curved-ish feathers , but they usually molt out of them. They do tend to freak folks out, though!
