3 month old silkies- male or female?? - Page 2

3 mos. is  too early to sex silkies,    I'd guess the first is a male,  the second I don't know  because it has a straight comb and it should be a walnut one.  I don't know therefore if it is too large a comb for a young female- being dark it's not going to redden if/when she nears point of lay.

I'm guessing this, too.

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!

Nature's first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay. --Robert Frost

I let them out to run the coop today, so here they are in their more natural stance, alternative photos of Chicken One (Headshot)

Alternative photos of Chicken 2 (Hedgehog)

At the very least, if impossible to sex before they're crowing or laying, they're a hoot to watch and so, so adorable! Their 5 toes crack me up.

Do you know the answer to your question yet?  Male or female?  Were the guesses correct?

I don't know :( I only had the two, but I had a lapse in my schedule one night and forgot to close my chicken coop. Despite not having had any predator problems or a chicken loss since I got my older fowl in March, I ended up losing both of them that night. :(
