I have 6 ducklings hatching right now and we think they are from our Rouen pair, but we have wild Mallard males(one of them is a regular we call Peg-legged Puck because he has only one leg) that always come around too.My mom thinks that Rouen's have sterile babies,is that true?I've never heard of that before. And is it possible that these ducklings might be part Mallard?

Rouens do not produce sterile offspring unless bred to muscovies. Yes it is possible that mallard drakes may breed your rouen hens, and the ducklings will be fertile as rouens are a 'mallard derived' breed.

I thought so!I thought that info seemed strange. It would be so cool if they were part Mallard but how would I be able to tell? They look exactly the same except Mallards are slimmer.:)
