Hatching upright in egg cartons

I am so sorry for you. Dont let it discourage you...every try is a learning process and I am learning volumes as well. It is sad when things dont go right but now you can fix what the problem was and try again. I hope you day gets better.

Thank you so much. I would love to keep trying I just feel like I am killing a life. I know some must die but as many as I have have killed or let die. I would love to have a flock. I may try something a little hardier. But I love the silkies. I hope I can find a few more eggs to try again before the season is over. Also how do I get to the posts I have posted. I have to leave the screen up an my phone and it is not easy.

Also how do I know where these guys will pip. Should I assume they will be shrink wrapped and need help if I used the dry incubation method? I opened the air sack on one just a little and it still had small veins still so I placed a wet paper towel over the hole and put it back. They are over due and I was worried about them being shrink wrapped and unable to escape. Like I said I know one was and died in the shell. :-(

I just now figuring out how to see the replies on here and still only seen a few that was replying to my posts. I can't even find my old posts. But anyway I was so afraid this wasn't going to work. I know I lost one and they are seeming to be hatching real late. I have 2 thermometers but I guess neither is correct or they would have hatched earlier. I know one has died before hatch but I think it tried to pip the wrong end. But I know it doesn't have any veins left. But didn't have a blood ring either. I may open it when I get home. Ugh. I am so sad about them

Did you calibrate the thermometers. I can give you a great link on an easy way to calibrate if you like. I sent you a message.

I hatch shipped silkies every month. If you need connections for eggs, let me know.

Please check your messages. What day are you on? You can float test them first before opening them up.

Yes an egg connection would be awesome. Also I don't know how to calibrate my thermometer or hydrometer especially since they are digital. So any information you could give me would be awesome. I don't know where to find your messages. But I am trying to find it. Lol. Thank you

Also how do you do the float test? I would love to try and pray for healthy babies.

I did the float test and they all floated. However I didn't see them wiggle. Should I? Does them not wiggling mean they are dead? Should I wait just a bit longer? I feel terrible. If none hatch when should I turn off the incubator or take them out? I tried to Private message you but it wouldn't send. Sorry. Didn't want you to think I didn't answer you. I am greatful for all of your advice.

You're supposed to see them wiggle but one time I had one that just floated, NO wiggling and I candled it In the closet so I could get a good look and I clearly saw it moving inside the egg. So usually if they are healthy they wiggle but not always. Now the one you opened up, was it alive under the membrane?? Have you read this WHOLE thing:
