Finally finished!! (:

As I understand it, they can have light at night as long as it is dim. In fact they prefer it from what I read since they can see predators and react instead of total darkness. Mine have a dim LED light on at night and they sleep right through it.
 
When it was nicer out... they had windows open which in the city means some dim light.... but not so much with the dropping temps and closed windows... They have their spots all picked out though, they seem to have it figured out. haha.

Although, I had a funny experience at about 3am when the girls were fairly new to the coop this spring. My neighbor turned on their very bright porch light and the ladies came running out. When the light went off it was chaos.

and everyone was running into things and yelling. I thought something had gotten into the coop, rushed out in my pjs and had to assist them back inside. haha
