Maybe it's a dumb question, but do EE lay only one color egg or multiple colors?

Oh my. I don't want to hijack the thread but I guess I should at least answer your question. I have Cuckoo Marans, Easter Eggers, Red Sex Links, Buff Brahmas and Light Brahmas, and one lone Buff Orpington.

I'm an unreformed thread hijacker - it's so easy to do when you feel like you're sitting around the table chatting with friends. Subjects get changed over a cup of coffee. But I'm trying to remember not to do that. I'll hijack the heck out of my own threads, though!

Lisa, as other posters have said, EE gals will each have a signature color, but the color may be a bit darker, and lighten up as her laying cycle progresses. No reason not to get a few EE gals, and enjoy the colors that they each give you. They are truly wonderful birds to have in a flock. I don't think I'd want a flock without at least a couple of EE gals! They have such quirky personalities, lay such beautiful eggs, and, IMO are never aggressive with their flock mates.

I'm so overloaded with eggs right now that as soon as I get back from the store I have to start getting a bunch in the freezer. Need to keep out enough for us to eat and enough for John (a customer) to come and get his, but the rest of the eggs are heading for the freezer.

28!!!! Girl, you got me beat! I'm going into the winter with 26! That's a lot of feed to be buying!

Thanks everyone. I got it straight now. I'll certainly add one when space is available again. Since we weren't getting the suspense of the surprise every morning, my hubby said forgot it for now, just get brown eggs. So to make sure, hopefully, that we have enough for the winter, I now have 5 brown egg layers. 5's my limit with the space I have available. Well, I could probably do more if I let them free range the yard more. However, I'm determined to try to keep my grass, so that means limited desert bar to one hour of the evenings and the rest of the time in the chicken lot, which is 23'x23'.

As for hijacking my threads, never worry about that. Like you said, topics get changed during the conversation. It's easy to do, and I do it too, if I'm not careful. I'll never get upset about something like that.

I thought the very same thing. I have 3, sold to me as mis-spelled amerecaunas. 2 lay greenish blue, one lays sky blue. Some I hear lay pink! I read the whole thread and I think if you want different colors, you might be happier with a one of each breed in you can only have 5 in your flock.

Hey Lisa basically Easter eggers (the breed) can lay different colored eggs (blue, green, pink) but that is just the overall chicken they can lay those three colors but it depends on what hen you get the hen color she lays is the egg she always lays so you can have a hen that either lays a green egg blue egg or pink egg it really just depends (hopefully that made sense)
