I am not kidding when I say a horned owl the size of a golden eagle killed two of my hens. I have since strung a haphazard crisscross of baling twine from one side of my 200x25 run and it seems to have discouraged Mr Owl. Any other suggestions? My girls are freaked. Even my Banty rooster, is staying under the eaves of the coup.

Hello & welcome! Also, sorry for your losses...
Yes - they do get pretty big don't they? Your wiring should help tremendously, as long as the gaps aren't big enough for him to get through. Motion detectors lights for the night, old CDs' strung from trees, pie pans etc. will catch the lights and distract the owl.
Once it realizes it's going to have to work harder for dinner, it will likely move along.

Welcome to BYC!

I'm sorry for your losses, I hope the baling wire helps.

Black bird netting used for fruit trees is good for a 'light weight roof' over a run stopping birds. Naughty owl.
