we have 12 older RIR hens we would like to butcher but don't have time to do it ourselves. we were thinking of finding someone to do it and offer them some chickens as a barter. wondering how many chickens would make it worth your while to butcher? i was thinking of offering them 5-6, wondering if that is reasonable for the amount of work. thanks for any suggestions/thoughts!

That would sound reasonable to me. The nice thing about bartering, though, is each deal is individual. I've found a single man will contribute a lot of work for a pan of home made lasagna
