Getting rid of nits

I have silkies and I have tried taking a flea comb, washing them, pulling then out with my fingers, and I can't seem to get these nits off of the base of the feathers . What else can I try to get rid of them?

Dip the bird up to its neck in Permethrin lased water.  Repeat every few days to kill the lice as or when they hatch.  I am unsure if anything will control nits, maybe lard or Crisco.

Keep your chickens safe from predators, buy and wear fur.

@chickengeorgetoOkay. The nits are mostly under the beak, ear and upper neck area.
