***DIY WATER WIGGLER***

Phew. I happened upon this thread today and got excited. Not long ago I filled a plastic Easter egg with hydrated diaper gel after drilling a hole in one end to accommodate the probe.squeezed the ends together and voila my very own ghost chick.

Diaper dust is the powdery polymer substance in disposible diapers. It absorbs fluids and doesn't tend to drip if done right. It looks like granulated egg whites. Best $2 investment ever.

Never heard that one.

Welcome to Back Yard Chickens !

Hello,

My name is Steven. I have been raising Chickens and other birds for about 2 years now. I will say it is really fun and addictive. I really enjoy incubating eggs and watching them grow into beautiful birds.

I am currently looking to buy or trade for some Ancona Chickens if you have some for sale please let me know.

Nice quick idea to prevent spillage...

I use the stuff as a soil additive to some high moisture requirement plants I keep in the house...

The actual chemical name for the powder is sodium polyacrylate, you can find it inside modern diapers, as well as in many 'moisture control' soil additives, and in some novelty products...

The above stuff is more like sand vs the fine powder you will find in a diaper...

Or you can buy it in bulk on Ebay and what not...

Little fact... If you use pure distilled water it will absorb about 800 times it's own weight in water, but if you use tap water it will only absorb about 300 times it's weight due to the impurities in the water...

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :)

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
