Hi all,

Our four chickens became extremely hoarse on Sunday afternoon out of nowhere. We've been monitoring them but they aren't showing any other signs of respitory issues. They're all eating normally and have been just as active as usual. I am just so confused on why ALL of them have lost their voice. So worried about them. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

Thanks,

Hannah

Are they stretching their necks out and gasping? And are they young?

If they are they have a gapeworm. If they are allowed to multiply the bird(s) may suffocate.

I would say take one to a bird vet and while your there ask about the other 3.

Hope this helps!!!

They aren't stretching their necks out nor are they gasping. They're acting completely normal besides the much quieter "talking." They're 24 weeks. So they've been laying for about 1.5 months.

Welp! Did all that worrying for nothing! Got home last night and three of them were back to normal and by today our loud mouth, Peanut, is back to her normal LOUD self. Maybe something spooked them and they strained their voices? Not sure. Just took a few days to get it back.

Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

Hannah
