Question about pelleted feed

I switches my new hen for this year over to a local non gmo feed that only comes in pellets. I'm using your plain old Tractor supply plastic feeders. My problem is the feed doesn't gravity feed into the hopper like crumbles do. How do you make sure they don't run out of food. Hmmm, I'm not sure what to say about your feed container problem except that if your keeping that type of feed maybe you should get a new feeder? I live in Northern VA and would be interested in the you are using, could you give me a little more information?

We use a homemade PVC feeder and works really well for pellets. All it is 4" pvc cut to how ever long you want with a 90 and a 45. Also later on since the chickens liked to pull feed on the ground with there beaks we added a 1/3 cut of a cap to make a stopper to keep them from dragging feed out on the ground. Here are some pics so it will make more sense.

Since the pics were taken we have switched to pellets. With this feeder there hasn't been any waste that we can tell. If I was to remake this feeder I would have used a T so it could be a double feeder instead of a single.

*edit* If I recall right (still drinking coffee) the stopper was made with a little piece of the 4" pvc so you could have something to glue to.

I can't get the link to post but you can Google "CFC farm center". They have a few locations that might be near you. Under the livestock feed tab, go to poultry. Then select Virginia natural layer pellets with the green tag. It's made from grain grown in Virginia using non gmo seeds. It does have soy but lists it as organic. I get the 50 lbs bags at the Culpeper store for $15-16.
