New chick still has shell stuck to her.

What should I do?  Remove it myself or will she shed it on her own.  She has one rather large piece on her back/ neck area and several other pieces of membrane and shell still stuck to her.  She had some trouble getting out of the egg so the membrane had dried out some.  She seems healthy so far.  Walking around and chirping.  Any advice?

WELCOME TO BYC!

if her navel is healed just quickly use a warm wet washcloth to get it unstuck and then dry her off with a warm dry towel or you can use a blow dryer on a low heat setting but dont get her face at all.  she will be fine as long as her umbilical/navel is closed!

Good luck and congrats!
