Is it more likely that my 6 month old leghorn, who has been laying for a couple of months now, laid two in one day, or that my 3 month old white faced black spanish laid for the first time?
 
More likely that your leghorn layed after your last check for eggs, than layed again the next day.
 
It's very rare but a chicken can lay two eggs in one day but your other hen could have started laying.
 
Well, I know it isn't two eggs from two days. First, the leghorn had already laid yesterday. And second, I closed the laying house last night, and there were no new eggs in there this morning. These eggs were laid about four hours apart.
 
I do know the shape and certain characteristics are usually the same on an egg layed by the same hen, so you could have a good look at them to compare them to see if they are both from your leghorn.
 
I did, and they are different, so I assumed one of my newbs laid today. But then I thought that three months seems insanely early. And I have never had a white faced black spanish before...
 
It is possible that your leghorn laid twice in one day. Rare, but possible. Are you positive that your White Faced Black Spanish pullet is only 3 months old? How red are her face/comb/wattles?

One way to tell if a hen is laying is to feel how far apart the pelvic bones are. Put your hand on the underside of your hen and feel the bones below the vent. If they are close together, she is not laying yet. If there is a couple of fingers space between them, she is probably laying.
 
Well she hatched here two days after my son was born, so I am definitely sure of her age. :) Thanks for the tip! I will have to try that. :)
