We built our first run/tunnel out of chicken wire and connected it to our small hen house.
It seems to work well. We have 4 hens in it and have had no real issues. What I liked about it was the look and the low cost. My concern is a lack of regular access inside the tunnel for cleaning, maintenance, etc. I also am fearful with the fragility of chicken wire (predator attack, something pushing on the wire and bending it).
We just added a second small coop to our garden area and I am experimenting with making the run out of an old collapsable dog pen/run that was in our storage barn.
Here are a couple of very early on pics of me laying it out.
What I like is the cost (this is two pens that ran $35/ea on Amazon - can get a 16' run), each set came with one panel each that has a lockable doorway, its a pretty heavy gauge wire, allows me to have a top that can be opened at any point, I can add to it or section it off easily, was super easy to construct.
I wanted to ask if anyone else has tried this and if there's anything I need to consider before finishing it out and making it more permanent? I think it should work fine. But I don't want to start cutting it up (to go around the fence post) and hinging it to the fence if there is a concern I'm not considering.
Thanks in advance....
