Well if you do go the chick route, You should have a backup plan. like have the stuff for a brooder on hand. You could go with eggs, but your hen might decide that that is a great time to give up on being broody.

for your question about eggs making her sick- it would only make her sick if she never got up to eat.

you would also be aware that the other birds in your flock are not picking on the chicks.

Lol your hen is hilarious! I can't believe she is pancaked out on the grass like that.
 
She is a nutcase honestly I have never experienced anything like this she does it anywhere like you already seen on grass, on my dogs bed, my kitchen matt on garden chairs anywhere she can but if she has her own Wu the NEST BOX ARGHHHHHHHHHHH
 
Hi all my wombat of a black rock has finally come to her senses and decided to snap out of being broody much to my daisybells delight as they were BFF LOL:) all order is now restored in the coop ha ha
Many many thanks to everyone for their help especially Yorkshirecoop and chickensgalore.
Needless to say the next time I get a Broody I am going to go down chicks hatching route I'm excited I was already gonna do it in spring with my duck eggs under a broody hen but I'm gonna go for both.
