How old are your silkies? Have you seen any fowl pox or mosquitoes around your coop? Pox can be fairly serious in chicks if that is what the lesions are from. Pox is a virus that runs it's course over 2-3 weeks. The only other possibility would be an infected peck wound or abscess, but since you have 2 with it at the same time, pox seems likely. I would apply some iodine to the bumps, and not disturb the scabs if pox is probable. If you suspect an abscess, then lancing it would be the thing to do, to squeeze out any pus inside. An abscess would feel soft and puffy. Please let us know what you find.
Thank you so much for getting back to me! The bump is hard and very fast growing but i don't think it has grown past that point. I guess if it is hard I should not lance? Just use the iodine? Also The mom has something on the top of her beak that i noticed a few days before these were hatched. It is also fast growing but i didn't think anything of it because it was just one sore. But looks different. It started as a scab and keeps getting taller. Very hard to the touch. I will post a picture of that and see if you think this is all the same thing. These are silkies so i don't know where else to look for pox sores. Again thank you so much! I have been worried sick about my babies.
