Hello! I was wondering when Indian Runner Ducks get tall. My Indian Runner is about 7 mo. old and she look like my other ducks! Starting to think she isn't a Runner.
She is fawn and white and looks like a Runner except her height.

Some breeders don't have good genetics, so their Indian runners aren't as upright. It won't get more upright at this point, sorry! Where did you get her from?

I have runners from a hatchery. The first 3 were decently upright and the remaining one when standing still is very much upright. I ordered another runner from the same hatchery and she's not nearly as vertical. And my runner from a neighbor's eggs up the street is also not very vertical.
Hatchery quality aren't usually going to be very upright, but how upright they are will vary.

Our were vertical by or before 4 weeks old

We have 14 Indian Runner Ducks and we are looking to trade some for some Black Cayuga Ducks or supplies for ducks. Three of the Indian Runner Ducks are 2 yrs old, four are 7 months old & seven are 2 ½ months old.

We only need 6 to 8 hens & 2 drakes, so we are looking to trade or sell 3 or 4 Indian Runner drakes & 3 or 4 Indian Runner hens.

If anyone can help pass the word around we would sure appreciate it. We need to cute back ASAP so we have room to keep them through winter.

I know how you feel. I got a Fawn & White Runner duckling from Metzer Farms back in February of this year along with a Rouen and a Pekin. All three of my ducks are fully grown now and are very happy and healthy. They're great pets. Like you, I was waiting for her to start standing upright like other Runners do, but she never did. I'm sure it's too late for her to start now. She's still a great duck, but I guess the genetics just weren't right for her to stand tall. Still love her just as much.

You probably eded up with a mixed breed batch.

A good place to get runners would be from the Holderread Farm. Dave ships them all aver the USA and they are always true to breed. I've gotten my runners from him for the past 7 years and they stand straight from day 1.
The one in front is a mix breed of a wild mallard that got into the pen of a runner. The rest are runners. Notice how straight their head to tail runs?
Happy ducking! :)
