So I picked up some chicks in a seedy part of town...

Oh my! Random wondering chicks! It's a good thing that doesn't happen around where I live. My husband would kill me after I collected them all. I could never live with myself if I didn't save them all! LOL

Yeah I have that problem too LOL my wife rolled her eyes when we came home with a bucket of peeping chicks.

I am in the north, we had good weather here, the southern islands got hit really bad. The chicks were walking in a really bad part of town..my brother-in-law hopped out the car to get them while I slowly drove the get-a-way car past the local trap houses, dodging bullets. Ok,... there were no bullets, but you get the idea!
Ok, now that you've fleshed out your story a bit... I can't let it pass. Local police beat: 2 brothers hauled into jail for picking up chicks in the seedy part of town.

UPDATE**** So...3 of the chicks turned out to be hens! I rehomed the rooster, one hen went to my inlaw and I have two nice "wild" (sort of tame-ish) birds. They lay tiny creamy bantam sized eggs, kinda reminds me of some Mille Fleur eggs I used to have. One of my wild hens already turned broody and she is sitting on some Copper Maran eggs. I am trying natural incubation this spring.

The other one turned out like this:

Here she is with the rest of the crew:

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that the grey one in the back is a roo! Also guessing that the front right one may be a roo! Come back in about 8 weeks, and tell me if I am right!!!
Well....we thought for the longest that this grey one was a roo but...... he is a she and she is broody now lol.
