Got a couple for you. Both came from Ida, our little (and I mean little) Red Sex Link pullet shortly after she started laying last year. She still cranks out very nice sized eggs, and several double yolkers, but nothing like then.

This shot is egg # 1 (right) and egg #2 (left) together. While your gut would tell you that the smaller egg would weigh less it actually turned out to be just the opposite because the smaller egg contained a double egg. Not just a double yolk, but double inner white, outer white and yolk, but oddly enough only one chalazae. It was simply denser than the larger egg.

Egg # 1

This is what was inside that egg. Notice the one chalazae. I wish I hadn't broken the yolk with a sharp edge of eggshell.

Weight (in grams) of the smaller big egg. Sounds so funny to say "smaller big egg."

Apparently I needed a different carton size. <sigh>

Egg #2 was laid about a week later.

This is the bigger one in appearance, but not weight. It was simply a double yolker, but they were two whopping big yolks! I sent it home with our son, who proclaimed it delicious!

This is that same egg (112 grams) next to a jumbo egg.
