Something to keep in mind...

The problem with buckshot over a single projectile bullet is the proximity needed for a successful kill, for a coyote and buckshot you are realistically limited to about 25-50 yards, beyond that the pattern and velocity of the pellets diminishes your chance for a clean kill, and you are more likely to maim at greater distances...

To get an idea of the pattern of your particular shotgun get a sheet of foam poster board (dollar store) and draw a 12" and 24" round circle on it to simulate a kill zone on a coyote, take aim and shoot at 25-50 yards...

They will be back... now that they know where the dinner table is, they will find an avenue to it...And, will try to take out your goats, dogs, chickens or whatever else is available (including small children, if you have any around). Don't go around the problem... eliminate it. Download a wounded rabbit audio file on your cell phone, set it by the edge of the bean field, load your gun, grab a lawn chair and a cold beverage and make a relaxing afternoon out of it.

Amen. But remember(not MeepBeep) that long shot's kill less at a distance (if not choked up tight). If you haven't sighted in already. My 20ga 2 3/4 8 shot will not take care of something smaller than a coyote with less than 3 shots. I watched it hit all the way around swimming the creek. I couldn't have missed and hit all 4 sides. After a chicken attempt. I didn't have time to be selective to change loads or wonder what choke I had. Planning can do wonders.
