I think I have a defective chicken.......

I have 8 hens, 2 RIR and 6 Gold Sex Links. 7 have been laying since August. I have never gotten 8 eggs. I know the reds are laying, not sure which of the golds is not. Can hens just not have any eggs to lay? I'm a newbie chicken owner. Thanks for information.

Almost no chicken will lay everyday. The best I ever had was a white leghorn and even she would take a day off every 10-12 days.days when everybody lays don't happen very often. If your getting around 4 dozen eggs a week your doing fine. I would bet that all your girls are laying just not every day.I'm getting 8-10 eggs a day and all my girls are under a year

Thanks Dan! I get 7 eggs every day! So, I guess my girls are doing their job! 😄

Your girls are doing great. A 90% lay rate is better than I'm getting.

Yep your chickens are doing very well. Way better then mine are!
The key to a happy flock is to be there for them. You have to do your job so they can do theirs. Your coop layout is also important. It doesn't have to be fancy just functional.http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/just-a-chicken-coop Is an example of it.
