Do you currently have chickens or other poultry? CTKen is right, the Learning Center is a great place to start. It's full of articles on how to raise and care for poultry:

It's good to have time to learn all you can before they get here and to get everything ready. If you don't already have a coop, check out the coop/run thread and the coop pages so you can be working on that. Chicks grow really fast and getting the coop ready for them can be a fun way of passing the time while you wait for them to get here.
