Concerned "Mother Hen"
We have 4 pullets (1 BO, 1 Barred Rock, 1 RIR, and 1 Americauna/Aracauna); 3 started laying at 17 weeks and the 1 at 18 or 19 weeks (she's the Easter Egger). She recently stopped laying eggs about 10 days ago. She is the only one of the four who is not laying, we have made no changes to diet or housing, and there have been no stresses to their environment (that I am aware of). I have checked her vent and it looks "normal" compared to the other 3 chickens. It's too early for them to start molting, and we have had a decrease in daylight hours, but wouldn't that effect production in all 4 chickens?
Do I need to take her to a vet? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

I have an Easter Egger that stopped laying about three weeks after she first started. She didn't lay for two months and then started back up. I get about 3 eggs a week from her. Easter Eggers can be very unpredictable layers. Some lay everyday without fail, others lay in starts and stops. They aren't a standard breed, so there is a huge amount of variety and irregularity among them.

EE's tend to be a little more sensitive to the light changes than some other breeds. I would think it's more related to weather/light changes than anything else. You could try putting a light in the coop, to provide extra hours of light, if you wanted to force winter laying. Many opt to let their birds have the winters off, if they so choose to though.

Thanks for the info, I was starting to worry that she was sick. She doesn't look sick... and it didn't seem that she had any symptoms of illness. We will keep an eye on her and see what happens.

This is good to know. I just wanted to make sure that she wasn't ill or causing damage to her body by not laying. I will look into adding a light into their coop.
