I lost a nearly 3 week old chick today and am having a little difficulty positively identifying which breed is was. Can anyone help me identify which this poor girl was?

Thank You
Troy

I would agree, however I ordered Golden Sex Links, New Hampshire Reds and Rhode Island Reds. Thats not to say that it's impossible that a Buff could have gotten mixed in, but seems unlikely.

Thank You

It looks like a Golden Sex Link chick. The feathers coming in on it are a little too reddish to be a Buff Orpington, but a little too light for a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire chick.

Thank you, so the next question is (though off topic for this forum), any thoughts on what might have happened? I hadn't observed anything wrong at all until last night, when I noticed it's backside had no feathers and was red and had white almost like paste coming from it's vent and other chicks were pecking at it's vent. It wasn't moving much, I separated it, but it wasn't eating or drinking and in the picture it looks like it's vent may have been obstructed. Any thoughts?

That looks like pasty butt. You need to be checking vents at least two or three times a day. If they get pasty butt, the vents need to be cleared as soon as possible. It is fatal if left like that, as you have sadly found out. It's usually caused by some sort of stress, either from transport, getting too hot, getting too cold, being too crowded, or if the brooder is in too noisy a spot.

I agree with junebuggena; it appears to be pasty butt.(
