First Flock Ever

I decided I'd share some images of my first flock, which we originally got in 2010/2011. We ordered a batch of 7 'hens', but came out with one rooster. This was my first and best flock; I had the best experience with them all, and all were my favorites and always will be. I only have some images of them individually as younger chicks.

Our Red Laced Wyandotte hen, Stripey. She passed away because she picked up an unknown sickness; to this day I still do not know what it was. She died a few years back. RIP, Stripey. <3

Tiny Tim, our Speckled Sussex hen. She had an infected/tumor infected crop. She unfortunately died soon after we noticed it; she did not live long, but she was my favorite. She always enjoyed bugs and digging around.

We also had a Buff Brahma hen, Susan. She passed away due to being egg bound. Poor baby - we tried our best to soothe the egg out, but it was just too big. Her final resting place was in a box with comfy blankets next to our fireplace so she could keep warm.

We also have the Twins, our Mottled Javas. One was snatched by a fox, but the other is still alive today and is named 'Twin'. We couldn't come up with another name, so, that's what it stayed as.

Our Black Cochin, Onyx. She had an odd sickness and died. It was unknown, but the day I saw she wasn't acting right was the night she passed away.

And last, our Blue Cochin rooster, Poofy Butt (I was young, so yeah...). The first time the fox came to harm my flock while we were gone at a farm, he fought it off; or fought something off. There were his feathers scattered all over the yard, and he had a limp in his leg, but no exterior injuries. He was a hero. However, his leg got to him a year or so later, and he passed away. We now have a Poofy Jr, which we hatched from the original Poofy and his flock. Let the Poofys go on!

Now some pictures of them altogether, full grown/not full grown.

Susie and one of the Twins.

The Twins and my dog, Duke.

Hope you enjoyed! RIP, all my older flock members. We now have a lot more than just 7 chickens, but these ones will always remain in my memory! <3

P.S these pictures are older; the resolution/the clearness of the pictures aren't the best. Apologies!

Long live the Poofies.  Pictures are fine.

Yess, they will continue to go on. And thanks, I was a little worried they were a tad blurry.

Your pictures show up just fine, thanks for sharing them. Some birds just stick with us long after they are gone. It sounds like you have some good memories of yours :love
