What is this odd egg like thing?

Found this in the nest box, and I haven't seen anything like it. It is relatively solid similar to thick jello. The 'egg' part is just over an inch and slightly transparent, the thing attached to it reminds me of fat and has a stringy thing attached.

18 laying hens about 18 months, a few 2.5 month old pullets still way to young to be laying. I occasionally will get a soft egg or shell less egg, and rarely the miniature eggs but this is new.

Hey phryan

It looks like a lash-egg to me .. if you search BYC or Google lash eggs there are lots of informative posts and images of lash eggs and the reasons they occur.

Yep, lash egg.

Was breeding Welsummers and Barnevelders. Not anymore thanks to a bobcat.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.
