I was just about to pen my ducks up, when I found out the were on the other side of the fence! I ndont know how they got there, there are no holes, and pekins cant fly, right? They have now swam in to a near by lake, far away. Goodbye my lovely pekins. I am so sad

How high is your fence?
ETA - don't give up on them. They will know where they have been fed and housed and will likely come back around (provided they stay safe in the meantime) where you may be able to capture them and relocate them back in the pen. In the meantime, definitely ID the escape path and rectify things appropriately.

If you post photos of your enclosure we may be able to help you see something you are missing with regards to how they came to be outside the pen. Is the gate to into the pen locked and, if not, how hard would it be for someone to get to it without you knowing it -- people have been known to let animals out of their enclosures, especially if someone saw the "poor ducks" and thought they should be "free" to go to the lake -- not realizing that they were doing way more harm than good.

The are free range during the day an a half an acre field cover by a 5 foot fence all around. There is a gate at the end of the fence. The nighttime pen is a 20 sq ft enclose that has a lock on it. It is nighttime where I live, so I cant take a pic
