Yes, that is a piece of egg shell by his right foot as he's still partly in the egg. I'm kinda afraid to take him out as I don't know what's gonna happen. He's trying really hard to get out and he's starting to fluff up. He's yawning still and chirping which I'm happy about because id rather him be talking than being silent. I am concerned that his eyes are still closed. He opens them a little bit and then closes them.
I can try and take him out of the egg more to take a few pictures of his navel area.
My last duckling that hatched from my incubator in July didn't have any problems at all and her navel looked fine and she had no gooey stuff so this is all new to me.
He's moving around a lot. I'm keeping his nails away. He's trying to lift his head up but he's still weak.
Is the fact that he's early have part on the fact that he can't keep his eyes open? Is that also the reason why he can't lift his head up?
He's a sticky baby, what that means is the humidity was to high at some point causing him to get this THICK gooy stuff, OR the temp Dropped, the bad part about this gooy nightmare stuff is it can and will sufficate them. That is why when I said clean him, he needs lots of cleaning in your other post, i was being serious. you have to remove it off of him. he can't do it himself.
Please do not take him out of that shell, the reason his eyes are closed again, he's got all this gooy stuff covering, it's like a coating Similar to GLUE and it does not need to be there, warm water with a qtip and wiping the eyes will get that off of there, then once your done look at that qtip, I bet you will see the yellow gunk. That would be your problem. he would need his beak, nostrils, neck, head, back, wings, all EXPOSED ONLY body parts needs to be cleaned, stay away from inside that shell. He also needs to be laying down with his feet to the ground. laying on his belly button, Hopefully you have wired flooring, it's great for helping them get strength in those little legs.
Early birds are usually caused because the temp is to High... he won't lift he head for a while.. At least 24 hours from now.
