Hi there,

How long are button quail eggs good for? What about when considering for incubation.
Should you wash your eggs before incubating? With what?
How often should you fill the trough with water?
Do the eggs go point up or point down in cradle?
Do you have to take eggs off the cradle "rocker" in order for them to hatch? I had one chick born and survive on cradle.
If taking out cradle and placing eggs on wire, how often should you turn them daily?
How long should you wait to remove eggs after hatch date has passed?
When is it ok to start placing chicks outside? Is it?
Any other learnings you can give me would be amazing. Thanks in advance!

I've recently started incubating eggs and could use any advice. I'm using a Hova-Bator 2362N. I live in California

I've never raised quail but we have a lot of members that have. There is a good section devoted to quail in the Learning Center:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/other-backyard-poultry-ducks-quail-turkeys-geese-etc

This link will take you to the quail forum, they should be able to answer whatever questions the LC didn't:

Thanks for joining us!

NorthFlChick has give you two great links - the quail folks should be able to answer your questions. I've never had quail either and would have referred you to those links also.

For information that isn't breed specific, head for the Learning Center. Welcome to Backyard chickens.
