Going to cross a Rhode Island Red rooster with ISA Brown hens. Anyone had any experience with this breed??
Colour, laying capacity etc..

The offspring will be mostly red; some will have white flecking or white patches on them. They will be excellent layers, although likely not quite as good as your first generation Isa Brown hens. Also unlike first generation Isa Browns (one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links), you will not be able to tell their gender by color.

No update?I have chicks from this cross. They're now around a week old. I think I have mostly females from wing sexing? I have one with very dark brown stripe in the middle. Is this still part of a cross? Coz some of my Isa brown/red sex link hens would go out of the property and sometimes roosters from the neighborhood would mate with them (Aseel, Shamo & Texas) that are mostly gamefowl breeds. So was wondering if one of the chick is not from my Rhode island red rooster. I named the chick Choco. My other chicks are similar to either a Rhode island red chick or an Isa brown chick. I tell through their feathers since the hens used to have white wings when they were younger and turned brown as they got older. While a Rhode island red chicks have brown-black wings color since they're younger. But they all have similar color which is light brown fur. I'm wondering if anyone had the pattern of "Choco" before? Or did I just have an offspring from a gamefowl rooster?

i know this is an older thread but i have a chick that looks just like this one....i know my roo is rir but not 100% if my hens are isa or not. the other 9 chicks seem to be getting white feathers....i do have 3 barred rocks and 2 white hens (of unknown breed, they lay brown eggs though) but surely my 2 white hens didn't lay 9 eggs in one day....do you have any recent pics of choco? (my daughter names ours billy, not sure if it will turn into a billie or not but according to wings thinking its a roo)
