Thoughts on this article? It says DON'T give ACV?

The point I haven't noticed being discussed is the mother. (Apologies if it has crossed point in this thread, I admit, I skimmed lol)

Obviously acid corrodes metal. Basic chemistry there.

The benefit to ACV with the mother intact goes beyind ph if the water OR gut. The protein strands in the mother are what the Bacillus in the gut feed on; ie, food for the beneficial bacteria.

It's basically the same for chickens as it is for humans. If we can't even assimilate or absorb nutrients, (like needing magnesium to absorb calcium etc) then the chickens aren't using all the nutrients, and their immunity will start to suffer and will not be able to fight off pathogens.

Corroded waterer aside, after dilution in a gallon of water, 2 tbsp of ACV is not going to cause health concerns; in fact, better absorption leads to BETTER health.

The benefit of it keeping algae from growing is just a bonus ;)

Were you talking about the ACV, the mother, the people, or the chickens, Mary?

There's research all over, unless you discount the decades of fermentation that have been studied. Because that's what acetic acid is, the product of fermentation ;)

You'll have to click the the icons and you'll be downloading about 120 pages of research :)

The last 4 are specific to chickens and/or mice, but the rest require downloading the respective PDF and adding it all up. The very last paper with the mice is probably the most easily referenced; the first ones take some digging; they're abstract results so there's a lot if mumbo jumbo to go with it..

Have fun! :)

PS.... This is all research on Acetic Acid with the mother still intact, BTW. Can't be comparing apples and oranges lol ;)

Thank you Chickencanoe and Shortgrass for the studies and information! Both of you found information I had not seen. I find with other non prescription treatments where no patent and financial benefit exist, there is less incentive to study natural and holistic remedies. I don't use ACV for chickens but will read more will consider it. I think the beneficial bacteria might be a reason to use it. Lots more reading to do!

You got it point blank right there.... "With no patent and/or financial benefit"... That's why studies these things are so hard to dig up and why studies of patented medicines arent ; $$$$$$...

So sad when there's so much out there that's being missed out on because of money :(
