Injured chicken. Please help. Feathers missing from leg and side.

I have 7 chickens.  2 RIR (6 months old), 3 White Leghorns (approximatly 8 months old) and 2 Buckeyes (18 weeks old).  The one Buckeye gets picked on, but mostly over reacts to everything.  She screams and runs to hide when another chicken gives her a sideways glance, so she is very dramatic.  For this reason we named her Baby.  Today I came home from work early and I went out to collect eggs and I heard screaming and went out to find Baby pinned behind the water jug, chicken coop and a rock used as the step up into the coop.  I moved the rock and got her free, but she is missing all of the feathers on her one leg and lots of feathers and bleeding on her side.  I put her in the chicken coop by herself and closed the door so the others couldn't get at her because I've heard that chickens will kill an injured chicken.  So, now what?  I don't really have anywhere else to isolate her.  My plan is to put a dog crate in the coop to keep her in there until she is healed or at least until there isn't as much red and blood showing.  What else do I need to do for her?  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It'd help her if you could put flower on the wounds, but only a little. It'll help stop the bleeding and keep it protected as it's exposed. I don't know much else, but you could research online - there's plenty of articles out there that could help you with Baby! I hope she gets better - and definitely separate her from the rest in the dog crate with food and water. You seem to be having the right idea so far, good luck with her. ;)

My Rooster gets picked on and they attack his feathers on his feet i came home to him bleeding gtabbed him took him inside washed up his foot got the blood off and put on quick blood stopper it has healed amazingly. I now and then have to isolate my polish cause they pick at his crown i put him in a dog crate in the coop with feed and water. Then when the other chickens go out to roam i let him roam in the coop until its time for the others to come back in. I hope this heleped and baby gets better soon. ( right hand corner vottom small black and white rooster is the one that gets picked on)

Thank you for the link. I'm going to see about getting her cleaned up. I don't think there are any large open wounds. It's more like her feathers were rubbed off from her squirming to get unstuck. She had cement blocks on either side of her. Poor Baby.

Oh, alright. I might've misunderstood then, but it could still work if anything did open up! It's getting colder here, and she might not be able to grow those feathers back in time if she'd already molted. But, if you live in a place that is usually always warm, you shouldn't worry about this. But when winter comes, she'll be freezing!

Definitely keep her in a separate area for now to see if the feathers will grow back. Hopefully they will before it gets too chilly, or hopefully they regrow fast in general so she can go out and have fun again.

And ouch! That sounds painful - no wonder why she was screaming. She might be scared of those blocks now, haha. Poor thing!
