My family and I have wanted chickens for a couple of years, but the area we previously lived in had ordinances that made it next to impossible to keep a flock. We just got our baby chicks five days ago. Three Buff Orphingtons, and three black Astralorps. Excited about our new adventure in owning chickens. This site is filled with great information has helped us to get off to a good start thanks.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock, and glad that you were finally able to get some chickens. You have two wonderful breeds there; both are hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of ours), and good layers of large, brown eggs (the Australorps are particularly excellent layers).
