Why do my chickens cross the road?

Talking to a neighbor down the road, He told me "Comets" were a wandering chicken,

Is this true?

He has other breeds and they stay on his property,

he told me, when he got comets they wandered off and his other chickens would follow,

,

My 6 Comets, all named Jenny, 1-6, (after my girlfriends daughter) all wander over to my neighbors yard across the street,

we have 5 acres of woods, small pond, and small lawn, for them to wander on,

I call them and they come running home,,,but I'm worried there gonna become  chicken smudge on the blacktop,

need a cure for the chickens crossing the road,

thanks

John

Any chicken breed can/will wander. Though I have noticed it is my comets who wander most. All of my orange/brown chickens wander while the black/white ones usually stay close.

Only way to stop them is to put up a fence. Or try having a machine that drops scratch every so often? Heard about this somewhere, not sure if it works.

When my chickens free range, they never leave my grounds.  I live on a corner lot, and there is no fence to both streets.. There is fence to next door neighbor.   I don't have any Comets..

But I do have an answer to your question.   Why the chicken crossed the road.     TO SHOW THE RACCOONS THAT IT CAN BE DONE. :gig

these are my "Girls"

when i call out----Girls,,,Girls,,wheres my GIRLS,,,they come runnin, wings flapping, jaws sqauukin, and hover around me,

so far none have become grease spots out in the road,

I've watched them come running back,

one even looked like he looked both ways, before crossing the road,

they love my neighbors lawn, as we don't have a lawn, only woods,

There,  may be your answer..   My girls love picking in the grass.   I hardly ever encounter any creepy crawlers.  The lawn gets picked clean.   WIN WIN.  situation.. I do not use any pesticides on my lawn.    They also eat the greens  in the lawn.  Blades of grass, dandelion greens, and other stuff.    Must taste good to them.   Here is a pix of them grazing freely. No reason to enter the asphalt jungle  just beyond.

I have 8 pets,  not sure where the rest were at time of taking the pix.  They all roam their separate ways.   I'm not there watching them,   just came outside to enjoy a cup of coffee and thought it looked cute.
