Sponsored Post When will my hens lay eggs?

From what I understand, different breeds typically start laying at different ages, I have an americauna and an auricana supposedly they are 26 weeks old but not laying. I also picked up a yokohoma and partridge rock that were "supposedly" laying as well and I've had them for 2 weeks. I haven't got any eggs from my flock, just wondering if there's anything that could be causing them to not lay? The americauna goes in and out of nest boxes, they've nested in them, they seem happy and healthy, they have plenty of space and I keep the whole coop clean, I feed them good food and also give them treats daily.

Thanks for the info. I too, did not realize that the eggs are developed at night, although it makes sense. Had a first experience while gathering eggs the other day. Two hens were in one nest and when I approached, I saw an egg, the first hen left and I went to get the egg and the second hen laid her egg right into my hand! Can't get any fresher than that!!
