I've got a polish pullet whose head is pecked bloody. She's my favorite of the bunch, and is very quiet, calm and friendly. I made the mistake of putting her back in the coop yesterday when her head was ALMOST fully feathered in, and this morning it's a bloody, bald mess.
In the past, I've had her in a wire dog kennel, and she gets shavings all over the place, plus it starts to smell very quickly. I put her in the rabbit hutch, but he's a lonely boy bunny... and he is attracted to her.
So this morning I've got her in the house with me, and I'm looking at mypetchicken.com's chicken diapers. Has anyone had experience with them? I'm not thrilled about the idea, but it seems like it might be a good solution to Snowball's problem until she's fully feathered out. Maybe she can move in with the cochin bantams when they're ready to go outside into their own coop.
I'd like input on diapers, how effective they are, how many I should get... basically people's experience with them. Thanks!
This was 3 days ago... she doesn't look this good now.

Wife of the best guy ever, mom of 5 sons and 1 daughter, living in heaven on earth. We're owned by more chickens than I care to admit, a pit bull, a Jack Russell terrorist, a chia-poo, a bazillion cats and a huge guinea pig.

She had just a little patch in the middle of her crest that the feathers weren't completely grown in. I let her out to range with the others Friday afternoon, and when they all went to bed I shut the door and didn't even think about her being out there with the rest. Yesterday morning when I got out there, she looked like this. All due to my thoughtlessness.
