Ok I have finally broken down and decided to give my ailing chick some antibiotics as she is doing far worse than my older hen, both of whom are having some respiratory issues. Not knowing exactly what it is they have, I didn't wanna jump on the antibiotic bandwagon, but she is not showing much improvement. I have looked for Tylan 50, but no one in this area carries it. I found some injectable oxytetracycline, and I am really hoping that #1 this is safe to give to my chickens, and #2 that someone can help me with dosage!!
It needs to be given intramuscularly so I am assuming i will give this in the breast? My one chick who is the sickest is only a few weeks old. I also have sav-a-chick probiotics to give with this.
This is the chick I am most worried about, but I am also going to inject the hen as well. Can yall help me in finding the proper dosage??
I have called all the feed stores and NO ONE knows of any vets around here that deal with chickens. Had the same problem trying to find a vet for my bunny.
