I must say that when we decided we were going to have chickens I had no idea how bad the anticipation would be for an egg. The lady I bought the pullets from said they were "almost to laying age" but its been well over a month and still no eggs. I have done EVERYTHING a good lil chicken mommy should do. I've added rope lights on a timer to the coop, I've put up cozy curtains in front of the nest boxes. They have perches in the coop and in the run. I also just made them a sandbox. Lol. I'm hoping I will find that glorious egg soon. My husband flicks me attitude every time we go to the store and have to buy eggs. I just wish the girls would help me out here! I've attached a picture so you can see combs and wattles. Do you think they will lay soon

? What's the hold up!? Lol

Two of the Production Reds look like they are close to laying soon, but there is no way to know how soon, soon will be. It might be tomorrow, or it might be another few weeks. Pullets that mature late in the summer or fall tend to start laying a bit later than birds that mature earlier in the year.

Thank you Junebug, I was thinking the same, they were close but who knows. I went out to the coop to check the boxes and simultaneously heard Tom Petty "the waiting is the hardest part" in my head. Lol I've attached a few more pics of my other girls...
