Ok... I went to cook my first egg and it had a dark brown spot on the yoke... Any ideas? I forgot to snap a picture. It was about a dime size. Thanks!

I find little brown spots on my yolks sometimes (never as big as a dime though). Look at this article that shows all the different things that can happen with eggs:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/common-egg-quality-problems

The ones I see are "meat spots" (#1 under "Common Albumen Quality Problems"). Do you think that's what you're seeing?

Don't worry about asking too many questions. There's always something new to learn (and I learn things when others ask too).

Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens.  You could put a golf ball or two in the nest boxes, to give her the idea where eggs should go.
