My 4-5 week old Orpingtons tend to spar a bit but it's never been anything serious, and no one has gotten hurt so far... Until today. I don't know when exactly this happened, but we were out in the backyard when I picked up the littlest one, and noticed she/he was missing part of one nostril and had a bit of a cut above the right eye =( Is this because of one of the other, bigger chickens? Is it bad, or am I just a nervous first time daddy worrying too much? Should I do anything to/for the injury, or something like separate them to stop the other two (I think it was probably the middle sized one that did it, always jumping and pecking that one) from hurting the smallest?

The hurt left nostril:

Small cut above the right eye:

Damage appears to be minimal and far from life threatening. I would not separate them or even treat - reintroduction of birds can result in more aggressive fighting and injury. I would keep an eye on things, and if aggression becomes worse remove the aggressor from the flock.
