Hi all,
I have a dozen fertile eggs from Indian Game and Plymouth Rock. I also currently have 5 one year old RIR hens which are providing me with eggs to eat at the moment.
I am very new to breeding chickens and I have chosen the IG and PR for dual purpose cross. I will also cross with my RIR hens as well.
What I am unsure of after reading hours of information on this subject is out of the Indian Game and the Plymouth Rock which breed should I select my future stud Roo from.....IG or PR??
I like the idea of IG Roo because the PR hens lay more eggs but if he has shorter legs which can occur, he may have trouble mating.
Has anyone out there on BYC had any experience with these crosses? I am not looking to create a super breed just a good dual purpose and I am willing to cross again after breeding IG with PR if necessary.
Any help would be appreciated.
