What Sort of Question Should I ask a Breeder? - Seeking Answers from a Breeder to Ensure a Quality Hen

Hi all,

In another thread I started yesterday I was advised to buy from a breeder. I found this person's advertisement on Craigslist and he sells 2mo pullets for $15. Before visiting his farm, I would like to ask him a few questions over the phone. What sort of questions should I ask him? Thanks for your help!

How about - How long have you been breeding? Do you keep breeds separate? Have you had any birds sicken or die recently? Do you vaccinate your chicks?

Look at the place, is it clean? Do the birds look healthy?

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Every poultry breeder in the country should subscribe to The Poultry Press . I have now for near 40 years and it is an invaluable source for judges and breeders .
