SO, long story short I accquired a BUNCH on 1 1/2 yr old red stars, One has Egg yolk peritinosis for sure, which is expected, I know with this Hybrid, So the next day I observed another one Acting odd, separated from flock, eyes closed, THEN she got up on her perch with her head under her wing, I was like ok... ANOTHER ONE to dispose of...... I let yesterday go by, Last night at dusk, I put on my gloves, grabbed my trust knife and was going to do the deed (I don't eat sick birds, I know its better to do it the AM with birds you eat, empty crop, etc) I snatched her off her roost, and I obsereved her comb was still red, no swelling in admomen, and a full crop, unlike the other one, which has a HUGE swollen abdomen, diahhrea, lowered tail feather and hadn't eaten at all and the comb was all dull, and tiny feathers on waddle ??....... SO I put the knife back, took off my gloves, and said, let me wait..... WELL this morning she was all about the run when I let them out, eating, drinking, socializing? Anyone know what could of plagued her? Im happy shes doing better though!!

thanks Aldo

My guess would be change. I've read that some chickens don't do to well with change to start with. You just got them? I'd still keep an eye on her.

Great she's back to herself. I'm still new and trying to figure out their crazy ways lol. Good luck and keep us posted in a few days or whenever you need to.

LOL good luck I ve had chicken forever and Imstill trying to figure it out, thank goodness for BYC and Youtube, that help alot, cause my gma passed away 2 years ago, And she used to know everything.... Ive always bought chicks or started pullets, and processed them at about 2 years, so they never really got a chance to develop these problems,OR I had heritage breeds, slowly I will intergrate those In, Ive heard they can be less troublesome, especially if they aren't hatchery type.. Im still curious of what ailed her...
