Not mean, but doesn't let the turkeys push anybody around. One of 6 hens I recently purchased, I suspect this is the one crowing early mornings.
Not sure on sex or breed.

Yep, that's a cockerel. He's a splash bantam Cochin, or at least that's mostly what he is. I'm not sure if that comb is a straight comb or just funky looking in the pic. That plus the white coming through on the earlobe makes me think he may have some mixed blood. He's a cute little guy!

Excuse my ignorance, I understand, by definition that a cockerel is a young adult male. How can you tell that, just by looking at the picture? I have no idea what age my chickens are. I was told that they had been laying before the person I bought them from, was given them from someone else.

yep.
that darker "mane" of feathers on the neck are hackle feathers. If you look closely, you can see the same style of long, pointed feathers on his back just in front of the tail. Those are saddle feathers.
Plus, crowing hens are really, really, really rare. Especially younger than 2 years or so.
Unless you're getting eggs from all your other birds, you may want to post pics to confirm gender.
