Putting 6 week old chicks outside

I have read a bunch of posts about putting chicks outside but I'm still confused. I have 6 6-week old chicks. (White rock, white sultan, silkie, wyandotte, EE and Ameraucana) I have one of those urban coops/runs inside of my main chicken run. Our Temps are 70s daytime and 50 night. (Alabama) I haven't been using heat for them for several weeks but they live in my main level garage so the cold night air is tempered. I know they need to be feathered out but to be honest silkies are tough to tell. I would love everyone advice on this so I can feel better about the move. I know they love being outside and would be so much happier out there.

Most chicks by 6 weeks of age should be OK at 50 degrees, especially if they have been allowed to acclimate to cooler temps. If you are not sure, no harm in keeping them in at night for another week or two, but I would not offer supplemental heat at night any longer.

Agreed. We all have different experiences and opinions and none should be considered to be caste in stone.
You could let them out and see how they act - if they are running around doing their thing, then don't worry, but if they huddle together and seem disinterested in the world, then thats probably a good sign they are feeling chilly.

I let my mother hen take her chicks out at 2-3 days old (i live in kenya where it is warm every day) but at around 6 weeks old, the mother hen takes them to roost with the flock which means she feels they are old enough to regulate their own temperatures without cause for concern.
