I guess I am unclear as to what you are asking. Are you wanting to know how many birds you can keep in a certain amount of space? If so, generally plan on 4 square feet of coop space per large fowl bird. As chicks, they certainly need less, but given that they grow so fast, the more space you can give them, the better. Good luck!

and 10 sq.feet per bird in the outdoor run area. 500 chicks, if you plan to keep all that survive, is too much math homework for me. I'm sorry I don't know the metric system.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X2 on trailrider330 and drumstick diva; for 500 chickens you will need a minumum of 2000 sq. feet of coop floor area (not counting the space taken up by the nesting boxes) and 5000 sq ft, of ground area in the run. Overcrowding can quickly lead to aggression, fights, biting and feather plucking, and even cannibalism. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
