I've been a chicken mom for about 1.5 weeks now. I have 6 barred rocked chicks. I bought 6 "guaranteed pullets" but I think one might be a rooster. I think my chicks are around 5 weeks and I can't believe how fast they are growing! I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I don't see any chicks in your pic screaming cockerel at this point and all of them appear to have the dark barring of pullets, but I would suggest posting their pics again in about 3 weeks or so on our What Breed or Gender is This? section in the forum at the top of the page and letting our experts there take a look at them for you. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

They do grow very quickly:) I have two roosters. They are good for keeping an eye out for predators. They make a racket!! I have 4 chickens that are a year and 5 months old and 2 youngsters 10 and 11 weeks old. Hoping they are hens!! You will love them!!

I just saw your post in the What Breed or Gender is This? section where you have a number of much better pictures and it's easy to see there that your chicks lack barring entirely (no wonder they look so dark here).) Your chicks are not Barred Rocks; they look like Black Australorp chicks and Black Australorps are too young to sex accurately at this age. Again, I would suggest posting their pics in the What Breed or Gender is This? section in about 3 weeks. By then their gender should be pretty obvious.

Hello,

You will come to enjoy raising chickens and then rewarding you in return with wonderful tasty eggs. You said that you purchased 6 sexed pullets and think one might be a rooster. It is too early to tell based on your pic (great pic btw). Let's hope they are all hens. It is possible that a mistake was made as sexing is not always guaranteed. I purchased 6 marans that were sexed and supposed to be all hens and ended up with 3 hens and 3 roosters.
